A Castle Island Engagement in Boston

You already know that I love taking photos in unique and meaningful places around Boston! So, when Alexis and Nina picked Castle Island to celebrate their engagement, I knew it would be the perfect spot. Castle Island is an absolutely breathtaking hidden gem in South Boston — also known as “Southie” if you’re local to Boston. When you think of Southie, I’m sure the first thought that comes to mind is the bar scene — so maybe you’ve never thought of it as a beautiful spot for engagement photos. But witnessing one stunning sunset during golden hour at Castle Island will change your mind.

Choosing a Meaningful Location that is Unique to You

I always say, go for a spot that’s close to your heart, and for these two, Castle Island was their go-to walk spot when they first started dating and lived just around the corner. They used to take their corgi, Josh, for walks there (I know – it’s an incredible name for a corgi right?), and now they’ll have documented memories there from celebrating their engagement!

Creating a Date-Like Atmosphere During Your Engagement Photos

It’s easy to get caught up in the idea of making your engagement photoshoot something that doesn’t feel super “you” because of what you’ve seen on social media. One of my favorite things about Alexis and Nina is that they unapologetically showed up ready to have fun, and were excited to simply spend time with each other during their engagement photos. Every part of this engagement session felt like a laid-back Sunday afternoon.

Alexis and Nina nailed it by adding a touch of sophistication and nostalgia to their shoot. Instead of the usual champagne, they opted for their favorite wines and poured them into charming vintage glasses. Their choice of casual outfits were comfy and perfectly reflected their personalities that let them be themselves. It was like a date at their favorite spot.

I can’t even begin to explain how fun it was documenting these romantic engagement photos with Alexis and Nina, and I cannot wait to celebrate their 2024 wedding with them!
