At the beginning of summer, Ryan and Kathie had inquired about having unique engagement photos taken in Boston’s Chinatown. They’re vision was to capture some fun engagement photos to celebrate Kathie’s heritage that they’d be able to incorporate into their wedding, and also to commemorate the countless memories they’ve shared in this historic part of the city (their first apartment together was right next door)! I knew that Chinatown’s vibrant color palette would be an incredible backdrop for these photos, but the results were beyond anything I could’ve imagined.
Exploring Chinatown: A Colorful & Natural Boston Engagement Session
We started out our morning exploring Chinatown’s streets — stopping in front of some of their favorite spots along the way to snap a few shots (Taiwan Cafe & China Pearl to name a few).
I love when couples come up with creative ideas during their Boston engagement session that they want to try out. Ryan had the idea to do a “Wes Anderson” inspired shot in front of the chicken display in the window of Hong Kong Eatery, and I OBVIOUSLY said “yes.” It’s an iconic photo I hope they’ll cherish (and laugh) over forever.
Creating Memories During a Boston Engagement in Chinatown
Next we headed to Empire Garden, where we indulged in some INCREDIBLE dim sum. Kathie ordered all the goods and it was such a memorable experience trying new foods and learning about the culture. Although eating shrimp at 10 o’clock in the morning isn’t a typical part of my morning routine, this is one of my favorite memories from summer and I hope they can say the same.
