I may not be the photographer for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine with me! Photography is a two-way street, and just as it’s crucial for you, the couple, to resonate with me, the photographer, it’s equally important for me to resonate with you. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions as a Boston Wedding Photographer, to give you insight into my photography style and what to expect from your experience as a couple!
1. What is your gallery turn-around time?
The suspense of waiting for your photos can be KILLER, I know. For sessions other than weddings, I find that a 3-5 week turnaround time is the sweet spot for getting the photos into your hands in a timely manner, but also allowing me enough time to pour the creativity and attention into your photos that they deserve.
So, for weddings, expect to receive Sneak Peaks within 1 week of your wedding date, and your full gallery between 6-10 weeks after your wedding!
2. Do you send sneak peaks?
I send sneak peaks within 1 week for elopements and particular wedding packages.
If you’re in a pinch and need your photos earlier than the stated turnaround time in your contract, I have a rush delivery add-on for all packages. Shoot me an email if you’re interested!
3. How many photos will I receive?
I deliver 50-75 photos/hour of coverage, plus tons of black-and-white duplicates.
4. Do you travel?
Hell ya! I’m always down to travel to where you are! However, for any location further than 30 miles from Boston, I do have a travel fee dependent on location which we can chat about before booking.
5. Are my photos stored securely?
ABSOLUTELY. I don’t mess around with potentially losing your photos… these are your memories after all! This is why I shoot on dual-card-slot cameras, which means your photos are always saving to two SD cards at a time. Beyond the SD cards, your photos are also then backed up onto two separate hard drives for maximum protection.
6. We’re awkward… Will you help pose us?
First off, I guarantee you’re not awkward! You’re just a real person — not a model. And that’s good because I have no interest in working with models.
When it comes to “posing”, I interchange between two approaches. For weddings, elopements, and events, a majority of the time I’ll be taking a fly on the wall approach to document moments that are naturally unfolding. But when it comes time for more portrait-style photos, I will absolutely guide you and give you prompts!
I stray away from stiff and unnatural poses, and lean into prompts which spark authentic emotion. For example, some prompts I may say at your engagement session are, ” run down to the water and then give each other the biggest hug!” or “play tag and grab the other person, pick them up and spin them around.” Movement is at the core of my prompts because I find that this allows people to feel comfortable right off the bat and leads to genuine, cinematic shots.
7. What is your photography style + what can I expect my photos to look like?
My photography style is inspired by film photography. I enjoy creating vibrant, imperfect, and emotional photos. I value documenting moments, not poses. I’ll treat each photo in your gallery as a piece of art in itself, because I want to create photos that can be hung on your wall and valued as such.
8. I want my engagement photos documented in multiple locations around Boston, how does that work?
I’ve found that 1.5 hours is the sweet spot for having breathing room and space to connect, get comfortable with each other, jam out to your favorite songs, grab TONS of beautiful shots, and get creative! I encourage you to think of 1-2 places (dependent on distance) or activities that are meaningful to your relationship and incorporate them into the session! But, don’t worry if you don’t have a clear vision for your photos. We’ll hop on the phone to chat through ideas and land on a vision that’s aligned with my style and your vision.
9. What does your booking process look like?
Fill out my inquiry form to share your photoshoot details, estimated date, and your photography vision. Once I review your inquiry form, I will send over a scheduling link to hop on a call! So, when the contract is signed and retainer is sent, you are officially booked on my calendar!! It’s officially time to start planning for your Boston photoshoot!
