Creative Engagement Photos in Boston with Bagels and the Green Line? Why Not.

There’s nothing I love more than working with couples who inspire me. When Eilidh and Alejandro reached out with their vision for meaningful, creative engagement photos incorporating the green line and their favorite bagel shop in Boston, I immediately knew we were about to create some really cool art together. On a chilly December afternoon — the day before they were moving back home to Seattle together — we explored the memorable spots they would often enjoy when Alejandro would come visit Eilidh in Boston over the past few years while doing long distance.

Engagement Photos in Boston’s Subway

Eilidh had the idea of incorporating the green line into their shoot because it was their means of transportation while exploring the city together whenever Alejandro would visit! She also loved the idea of their Boston engagement photos being inspired by her favorite scene in her favorite movie “About Time.” (and if you’re a romance movie fan and haven’t seen this yet, you need to watch ASAP). Once I watched that scene I knew exactly the vision she was going for and was even more excited to bring her vision to life.

The Art of a Two-Hour Engagement Photoshoot in Boston

This shoot was over two hours long, and we really used the extended time to our advantage. A longer shoot allowed us to really get to know each other which helped them feel super comfortable in front of the camera, and allowed me to get even more creative and intentional with shot ideas and different perspectives to tell their story in a unique way.

Celebrating Love and Bagels in Downtown Boston

We finished up at Copley Station, hopped on the subway, and headed over to Mamaleh’s, the go-to bagel shop for Eilidh & Alejandro during their time in Boston. It was so fun getting to learn more about their experience in Boston together, and their plans now that they’re long-distance era is finally coming to a close. I’m honored to have documented such a special moment in their life in a place that was so meaningful to their relationship.

Kind Words from Eilidh & Alejandro

“My fiance and I cannot recommend Maddy enough! We wanted to take our engagement shots at some unique locations that were personal to us but maybe a little strange from an objective point of view, and she completely understood what we were hoping for. She truly listened to our vision and got just as excited about it as we were! On the day of our shoot she made us feel so comfortable and guided us through her ideas in a way that made it feel as though we were all just hanging out – it never felt like my fiance and I were there and someone was just awkwardly watching. The photos turned out so, so beautifully – better than we ever could have imagined.

Maddy really captured the spirit of our relationship and the joy of doing the things you love, no matter how little, with the person you love. Everyone I’ve shown the pictures to has described them as museum worthy, and we completely agree. The fact that Maddy provides such a warm, welcoming, fun experience while shooting and produces such beautiful photos makes her an extremely talented photographer. We would happily work with her again and again and again.”

Not only is presence extremely important to me as your wedding photographer; it’s also a huge priority for me in my personal life.

When you focus on experiencing your life instead of posting about your life, you’ll notice a shift in your happiness, your gratitude, and your overall experience on this Earth.

If that’s a sentiment that resonates with you, you’re exactly who I want to photograph — because you care about living your wedding day, not just living for the photos.

And, to me, THAT is what true art is.
