You know what’s cooler than eloping? Eloping in Massachusetts. If you’re planning a 2024 elopement, you’re gonna want to stick around.
As a documentary style photographer, elopements are some of my absolute favorite moments to photograph, because each one is intentional, heartfelt, and super unique to each couple. What I love most about elopements is the unconventional celebration of your love, and the experience of hopping around to your favorite locations throughout the day. – What better place to do this than in Massachusetts — the heart of New England.
Each Season Paints a Unique Backdrop for a Massachusetts Elopement
A perk of having a Massachusetts elopement is of course, the seasons! While each season is special for different reasons – spring blooms, winter snow, and the sunshine of summer – as a New Englander I think we all can agree that autumn in Massachusetts has a particular magic that’s unmatched by the others.
Aimee and Devon – this amazing couple that I had the pleasure of spending the day with during their Massachusetts elopement in Lowell – opted for a crisp November day to say “I do” at the courthouse. The fun-loving energy shared between Aimee and Devon throughout the day left a lasting impression in their final photo gallery. If you’re unsure about which season is best to elope in Massachusetts, I say go with your favorite, or one that’s particularly meaningful to you and your relationship. With my documentary style approach to photography, the weather isn’t going to deter the feeling of the day or your photos no matter the season, because my focus is on you and this moment you’re sharing together.
The Charm and Versatility of Massachusetts
Another reason you should consider eloping in Massachusetts is because of its charm and versatility for locations. Many couples opt for an elopement over a big wedding because they don’t align with traditional wedding venues. Having an elopement means you can really have your wedding… anywhere!
Massachusetts has so many creative options for locations — Boston (one of my all-time favorites), the beach, the courthouse, a field, a restaurant, or even a historical trolley?!?! Aimee and Devon opted for Lowell, MA, because its where Aimee grew up. After they tied the knot at the courthouse, Aimee had planned for her middle school teacher (who currently drives the historic trolley in Lowell) to take them for a ride around town to celebrate. It was such an incredible experience, and a great way for them to step away and have a moment to themselves on their elopement day.
How to Decide if an Elopement in Massachusetts is For You?
All in all, choosing to elope rather than a traditional style wedding is dependent on what’s best for YOU. If you’re a couple who loves the unconventional, tends to be a bit more introverted, and desires an intimate, laid-back day to celebrate with your partner, then consider eloping! Many couples opt to spend the day together traveling to all of their favorite locations around the city, but there truly are no limits or traditions to follow during an elopement. As your Massachusetts elopement photographer, I’ll be here every step of the planning process to offer tons of suggestions and ideas for planning the perfect elopement day for you and your partner.
